Celebrate Literacy WeekThe Florida Department of Education has designated January 24–28 as Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! This week is designed to raise awareness about the importance of reading, and to inspire Florida's students and families to make reading part of their daily routines.

The 2022 Celebrate Literacy Week theme is Launch Into Literacy, Blast Off Into New Worlds! With this theme in mind, Flagler Schools will be reading books with a variety of settings to support the New Worlds Reading Initiative program released this fall. 

Rymfire Elementary School will celebrate literacy with these fun daily activities:
  • Launch Into LiteracyMonday, January 24th: Astronaut or Alien Day

  • Tuesday, January 25th: Read My Shirt Day

  • Wednesday, January 26th: Hunt for a Good Book Because We are Wild About Reading! - Camouflage/Animal Print/Poem in Your Pocket Day

  • Thursday, January 27th: Book Character or Author Day

  • Thursday Evening: Literacy Night Family Scavenger Hunt/Open House
    • Families with the last name starting with A–K: 5:30–6:15 P.M.
    • Families with the last name starting with L–Z: 6:15–7:00 P.M.

  • Friday, January 28th: Snuggle Up and Read - Pajama/Stuffed Animal DEAR Day

Throughout the entire week we will participate in the following additional activities:
  • Guest readers will visit and read to classes
  • Buddy reading between older and younger students
  • Focus on reading different types of texts like newspapers, magazines, poems, etc.
